This race saw a great battle between Tom Corrigan and Danny Collinge of Clayton, with Tom eventually running out as the race winner. There were top ten finishes for Andy Collins and Andrew Chew and a welcome return of Dan Taylor to racing who finished just outside the top ten.
In the ladies race, Jen Hird continues with her comeback, finishing 7th lady and it was good to see Paula Clark continuing with her foray on the fells.

Barlick Fell Runners have been asked to take over the organisation of this race following the retirement of the current race organiser. There has been a race at this gala since the early 1970s and hopefully the future of this lovely traditional Dales fell race is now secure.
There was an interesting tussle at the front of this race. The field was led out by 14 year old Josh Boyle of Blackburn Harriers and he was closely followed by Sam Tosh. The position remained the same until half way up the steep climb up Pendle, when Sam took the lead. However, Josh remained in touch and although Sam ran out the winner, Josh finished not far behind. There was a good gap then between those two and the rest of the field. But make no mistake, those that were at this race saw a rising young star of the future.
Just a couple of Barlickers out racing ahead of the coming weekend.

It was wet, wild and windy for the annual jaunt up Pinhaw and 143 people ran in the worst conditions seen for a long time in this race. Jimmy Craig showed everyone a clean pair of heels coming home in front of Tom Corrigan and young Jordan McDonald from Clayton. With 4 Barlick men in the top 5, they took the team prize on the night. The Barlick ladies also put on a great show jointly winning the team prize with the Trawden Belles. In the ladies race, Debbie Gowans of Accrington Road Runners was first back followed by Lorraine Slater of Barlick.
A big thanks must go to all the marshals who braved the wind, rain and dropping temperatures and to Terry Lonergan of Complete Runner for sponsoring the race with some prizes, numbers and start and finish banners.
After two races, Tom Corrigan is now leading the table following his 3rd place finish at Hambledon.

Record holder Tom Brunt returned for a third time to take on this race and before the off, the conjecture was whether he would finish under two hours. The conditions on the top of Pendle were cold, wet and very windy and were not ideal for record breaking times. Perhaps things might have been different had Tom been uinder pressure from the other runners. As it turned out, Tom had a comfortable win over Martin Hurst from Pudsey & Bramley who was closely followed home in third place by Max Wainwright from Helsby RC.
There was only one lady in the race this year and she was Helen Buchan of Calder Valley and she finished in 22nd place overall in a time of 3:26:38.
More photographs of the day will be added to the web site shortly.
If you spot any errors in these, please let us know.
When Gary Bradley posed for this pre-race photo along side Karen Nash, it probably never occurred to him that she would romp home in front of him with two hours to spare!!
12 Charlie Murgatroyd 25:38
Emma Bailey is doubtless smiling as she looks at these results, as she put in an excellent time for this half marathon and finished first in category. Richard entered the full marathon which is completed in just over four hours.
