Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable.  A great performance by Tom Corrigan, in his first ever Three Peaks race, not only led the Barlickers home, but he finished in the top twenty.   Good performances too from Julian Hood and Luke Maude meant that Barlick had three runners in the top thirty.

For the third consecutive year, Andy Berry has once more shown a vast improvement in this race and despite the harder going this year, he not only improved on his last year's time, but for the first time, finished in the top 100.

The provisional finishing positions and times for the Barlickers were as follows:

Where were all the Barlickers this evening, as only two turned up for the pub run?  Ian Livesey & Scott McCredie.

Ian is still recovering from his London Marathon but that didn't appear to affect his off-road running; very impressive from someone who just 4 days earlier ran 26 miles in 2:33:27.

Scott has only just started fell running but he didn't wane on any of the ascents, in fact, he took them easily in his stride; watch out for this guy on the fells in the coming year.

It's perhaps a good job that Andy Holden of Wharfedale Harriers turned up to join the run as the other two did not know the area.

He took them on a route via Little Newton Farm, up towards Crake Moor, then returned via the summit of Newton Moor, the turning point in the Hellifield fell race, about 5.5 miles.

It's not long now till the start of the 2016 BOFRA Championship, with the first race being at Sedbergh Gala on the 21st May. They put a varied season of races and there are always juniors races at each event.  If you or your child wish to take part, you must send off your membership application form before 21 May.  Your child must be over 6.

Three Barlickers entered the biggest Marathon in England and once again, came away with some cracking times. Ian Livesey, running his 3rd Marathon this year ran, 2.33.27, showing once again his quality over his favourite distance. With Chris Singleton losing his pb due to the Manchester Marathon being outed as a short course this week, Ian is now the club record holder. 2nd in and running his 2nd Marathon this year was Gary Shaw. Gary nearly pulled out 6miles in due to blisters, but showed grit and determination to finish in 2.44, which is still a great time. Mark Sandamas won the club ballot at the presentation evening and vowed to put it to good use. He's clearly been putting in the training as he looked lean and mean. Touching 50, he put in a great performance and came away with a pb of 2.46. All three enjoyed the unique atmosphere that London provides. Livers will no doubt be looking to go sub 2.30 in the future.

129 Ian Livesey 2:33:27
416 Gary Shaw 2:42:41
599 Mark Sandamas 2:46:06

Andrew Chew and Emma Bailey took part in this hilly road race, both getting a pb.   Andrew was 3rd and Emma was 4th lady.  Prizes were a bottle of wine and a scarecrow.  It was a fantastic event and well organised, with the village decorated in scarecrows for their annual festival.

3 Andrew Chew 37:09
28 Emma Bailey 44:47

129 finishers.
