It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Chris Smale. He passed away on 6 February, age 61, after a battle with an aggressive form of cancer. He was very proud of his membership of the club. He was a very good runner, a good team mate and he would do anything to help you.
At the pub runon Wednesday at the Punch Bowl , everyone reminisced about past times with Chris. No one had a bad word to say about him and it was obvious listening to everyone that he was well thought of within the club and that everyone had a high opinion about him both as an individual and as a runner. Before leaving, everyone raised their glasses in memory of a top man and club member.
If anyone would like to say farewell to Chris, the details are below.
This race was due to be held in December, but it was postponed as it was windy on the day. We had four teams entered for the original race, but could only scrape two together for the new date. The men's team came 5th overall and the ladies finished 11th.
