The Kilnsey Crag Race is a typical Dales "slow up, descend like a maniac" race. Rob Hope was perhaps hoping to win this race yet again, but his hopes were dashed as he was pushed into second place by Simon Bailey of Mercia. Jimmy Craig came home in 4th place and Barlick had three runners in the top ten.

Julian Hood won the one mile handicap race and Nick Treitl finished 5th.
Only two Barlickers made the trek up to Reeth for this race. A second place was Jimmy Craig's reward for his trip, finishing behind Tom Addison of Helm Hill. In third place was Jack Smith of Wharfedale.
Angela Donlan finished 4th lady and 1st LV40.
Last week saw the first Barlick win by a junior boy. This week saw a junior girl take the honours. Jenna Boothman was first girl in the U12 race. Her sister Chloe also had a good run in the U9 race.
Dad, John Boothman was first Barlicker in the senior race.

The results have come out for this race more quickly than in recent years and well done to BOFRA for facilitating this. Luke Maude finished in 5th position and Chris Smale finished 8th. Ted Mason won the race with Sam Watson second. Good to see Craig Child back out on the fells again.
In the junior races, Chloe Boothman ran in the under 9 race and her sister Jenna ran in the under 12 race.

In the U9 race, Ellie Honeyman finished in 14th place overall and 4th girl.
Scott Boardman took part in this race and reports that he got lots of encouragement wearing his Barlick vest. The two lap course was hilly and in addition, it was really warm and windy, but the supporting crowds were great.
Scott finished in 78th position in a time of 1:38:23 which is a new PB.
There were around 600 starters.
A proud moment for Harley Treitl today as after winning the U8/U10 race, he met Olympian Rower, Andy Hodge.
In winning his race, Harley made history, as it was the first ever win for a junior member in a fell race. Another junior, Jenna Boothman, showed typical Boothman grit by running today in the Park Run at Skipton, then at Gargrave Show and finally at Burnsall. The junior training sessions only started recently, but they are well attended by a large bunch of enthusiastic youngsters, so expect to see more Barlick junior members in fell races in the future.
Finishing places and times for those who turned out today are as follows:
U8/U10
1 Harley Treitl 4:43
20 Harry Carpendale 6:34
25 Clover Edwards 6:55
U12/U14
16 Elliot Phillips 8:07 (7th U12)
31 Jenna Boothman 9:03 (3rd race of the day)
A good day for the club in this race, with Ian Livesey and Julian Hood taking 2nd and 3rd places respectively with Andrew Chew making it three Barlickers in the top ten which was enough to win Barlick the team prize.
The race was won by the evergreen Ian Holmes who showed to day that he is just not a fell runner.

Locals Ted Mason and Fred Bosomworth are often alone fighting it out on the fells for who is winner of this race - but not this year. Young Sam Tosh turned up and upset the local party, by taking the honours, but he had to fight off a strong challenge from veteran Rob Jebb
Because of the many races on today, only two Barlickers entered this race and they finished as follows:
6 Nick Treitl 16:47
55 Lee Edwards 20:55
Darren Kay still has it, as he demonstrated today by showing a clean pair of heels to the rest of the field. Andrew Driver had a top twenty finish and led the Barlickers home. In the ladies race, Lorraine Slater finished 1st FV40.
20 Andrew Driver 1:42:41

The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
