Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Fresh from winning her bronze medal yesterday in the road relays Emma Bailey set off today along with James Tingle, John Boothman, Mark Nutter and Jack Ingham to take part in this race.  The finishing times were:

505 James Tingle 1:27:28
2005 john Boothman 1:37:26
3179 Emma Bailey 1:42:05
11568 Mark Nutter 2:00:09
20246 Jack Ingham 2:15:21

Mark Nutter finished in spectacular fashion.  He entered the last mile on 1:46 and was on for a 1:55 finish.  However, with 200m to go, he decided to a Mo Farrah impersonation and sprint for the finish.  Instead of hitting the finish line, his blood sugar level reached rock bottom and he hit the ground instead.  Thankfully, some friendly Scottish lads helped him up and dragged him over the line.

Following on from his cracking run in the road relays yesterday, Jimmy Craig followed it up by winning this race and beating Carl Bell in the process.

Michael Alexander found this race tougher than he expected, but he still finished it in 3:33:44, which was a new PB by 26 minutes

Lee Parrington and Mark Holgate had cracking runs in the Pilling 10k. Lee won the race in 34.40 and Mark was 3rd in 36.54. That's Lee's 3rd win in the last two months.

This race is quite unusual in that all age groups run together and compete over the same course.  It was a little sad therefore to see only a few runners turn up and take part.  As it is only a short stroll from his back door, it was perhaps inevitable that Dave Halliday and his lad were there.  They finished as follows:

10 Dave Halliday 14:34
20 Elliott Halliday 18:06

Jack Ingham went up to the Lakes for this Trail Race and came home in 114th position in a time of 1:30:06.

There were 464 finishers.

Luke Maude had a great run, securing a top ten place in his first attempt at this race.  He was duly rewarded for his efforts by winning the J A MacPherson Trophy for the best newcomer.

Another runner who had a good inaugural run was Lee Edwards, so much so that he was a team counter for the club.  Barlick were 8th team with 108 points as follows:

9 Luke Maude 1:44:40
27 Nick Treitl 1:51:14
72 Lee Edwards 2:03:13

Please note that this will be from the main car park at Gargrave and NOT from the Devonshire at Skipton.

This is a good race,  with a bit of up and down with the bridges over the A1 and about half the race on gentle trail for good measure.  Julian Hood had a great run, coming second after Mike Burrett of Leeds City with a time of 34:27.

U9 Girls

9 Chloe Boothman 4:01

U12 Girls

10 Jenna Boothman 8:12

Seniors

28 Nicolas Kendall 36:49
38 Craig Child 39:40

Just John Boothman and Glenn Whittaker showed up for this race.  Dave Halliday was down to run it, but he was perhaps suffering from Ben Nevis legs or could it have been Ben Nevis nipples.

137 John Boothman 94:38
154 Glenn Whittaker 98:15

Matt Lalor made a stop half way round but still managed a win, gearing up for his marathon at the end of October in Ireland.  He managed to dip under the 2 hour mark with a 1.59 clocking.

Scott Boardman is also in marathon training and he also took part in this race. He finished in a time of 2:45:10, but his position is not yet known.

Full results to follow.

This race was exactly "as it said on the tin" a favourable first mile, a severe uphill second mile (which added 2 mins, then 4 miles of undulations on quiet country lanes. So a challenging course for 3 Barlicks “boys” in a small select field of just 44 which toed the line. The race was made easier by a gentle breeze taking the edge off temperatures on a fine warm and sunny late summer morning.

LEE PARRINGTON led after half a mile and held on for a clear win.  Down the field, PETE WILKINSON had the better of  TERRY LONERGAN for the first half of the race, proving stronger on the hills, with Terry coming through in the second 5K.

1ST  LEE PARRINGTON        36.19

17TH TERRY LONERGAN  M65   49.46

18TH  PETE WILKINSON    M65   51.19

A good weekend for the Parrington brothers, as Russell also won an obstacle race for his team Muddy Kit.

Ian Livesey and Andrew Carson went in search of pbs and both ran well at Salford.  Livers ran 33.04.  Andrew Carson has been Improving all year and ran 37.17 which is indeed a new pb.
