Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. A good performance by Emma Pease saw her finish first F40 in this Innovate mid week series.

4 Jonathan Cleaver 35:32
13 Ian Cocks 39:59
20 David Pease 42:47
26 Amdrew Smith 43:54
58 Emma Pease 50:02 (1st F40)

Just two Barlickers out at this race, which is a tough one, but has a good route.  John Boothman managed to go astray and it seems that in true fell running style, so did plenty of others.

19 Craig Storozuk 2:55:57
24 John Boothman 3:12:57

The title is short for the Courmayeur, Champex-Lac, Chamonix race and it covers 101 km with 6,100 meters of ascent.  Converting this to English money, it is just over 60 miles in length with over 20,000 feet of ascent - a daunting challenge for anyone.   A lot did not make it.  2132 started and over 550 dropped out, with 1578 finishers.

There was no dropping out for Gary Bradley.   His race went well and he finished in 466th place in 19hrs, 43mins which was inside his target time of under 20 hrs.  Quite an achievement.

A race report from Gary follows

This race is an undulating 20 mile race, with 1000 ft of ascent, mainly on country lanes.  There are a couple of climbs in it which are challenging, but they are not too long, which makes this race excellent preparation for a marathon.

When taking part in this race, both Jon Cleaver and Luke Turner had their sights set firmly on the Berlin Marathon in four week's time.  Next week, they are hoping to retain the Yorkshireman Pairs Title before they begin tapering.

3 Jon Cleaver 1:55:40
23 Luke Turner 2:16:19

7 Zac Kaye 20:43
20 Lucy Beresford 24:31 New PB
21 Hannah Newbold 24:33 New PB

2 Ian Beresford 17:46
9 Barrie Charnley 18:58
163 Marie Beech 28:12

The U14s & U17s run together and a brilliant run by Jacob Reeday saw him finish closely behind Jack Villiers to take the U14 title.  In the U12 girls race, Lucille Pickles trounced the opposition to easily run out race winner, with Isobelle Teal securing third place.

U17/U14 Race
5 Jack Villiers 9:23
6 Jacob Reeday 9:27 (1st U14, 1st local)

U12 Race
5 Lucille Pickles 7:28 (1st girl)
8 Will Pease 7:44
18 Isobelle Teal 11:05 (3rd girl)

It was a remarkable win in the ladies race by Emma Hopkinson of Wharfedale, as it was only at the weekend that she completed the Bob Graham Round.  Second in the men's race was Joe Hudson of Keighley & Craven.  He is the son of Rob Hudson who, in his day, dominated the BOFRA races.  It is interesting too to see that his other son, Louis Hudson, won the U17 race.  It looks as though fell running is in the Hudson blood.

The Barlickers finished as follows:

8 Luke Maude 9:02
24 Tim Chadwick 10:11
37 Victoria Peel 11:33 (5th lady)
46 John Boothman 12:01
52 Andrew Smith 12:25
91 Craig Child 15:31

23 David Poole 40:25
30 Alex Mason 41:26 (2nd U18)
50 Barrie Charnley 45:27

24 David Pease 22:15
36 Shane Muller 23:39
57 Tony Duffy 27:51
59 Emma Pease 28:31
70 Nicola Muller 31:30
