Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. John Boothman was going to run in the East Lancs 10K, but when this was called off due to the weather, he went over to Haworth for this race.  Again due to the weather, the course was changed to that of the Stoop.  John had a decent run, finishing in 96th position in a time of 44:52.  The winner was Tom Adams of Ilkley in 36:06, ahead of Simon Bailey and Ian Holmes.

Ian Livesey had a great start to the New Year by winning the Central Lancashire Half Marathon and he followed it up today with another cracking run, another win and another PB.

He won in a time of 1:11:50 knocking 56 seconds off his previous PB as well as showing a clean pair of heels to decent runners, Rob Danson, 2nd, Rob Affleck 3rd and Shaun Livesey 4th.

Michael Thistletwaite did the the 15 mile version of this event and finished in 15th position in a time of 3:07.

It was a blustery day for this race, although much of the route was surprisingly sheltered and as the rain held off, it made it an enjoyable race.  John Boothman once more took part and he finished in 103rd position, in a time of 43:17.  This compares to his PB of 42:00 last year and it seems that the weather and to much good living over Christmas took its toll.

A bit behind the times with this one, but the results have only just become available.  Our sole member out on the fells on the first day of the New Year was Richard Treitl, who finished 115 out of 150 entrants in a time of 29:36.

We had a good turn out of runners today in this event and as a result, we had a full ladies team, a V35 ladies team, two men's teams, a V40 men's team and our first junior runner in a cross country race.

With the muddy conditions and a strong wind, Aaron Slater picked a tough race to make club history by being the first junior to represent the club in a cross country race.  He did well in his debut race, finishing in the top half of the field.

In the ladies race, Sarah Tipler made a good start and immediately went into the lead which she held for the first lap.  She was eventually passed by Anna Lupton, Joanne Nelson and Clare McKeown and finished in 4th place.  Before the race, Lorraine Slater was looking remarkably relaxed (for her) and although cross country is not her preferred type of race, she had a good run to finish second for Barlick.  All our girls did well, including new member Paula Clark, as they all finished in the top half of the field.  This effort now puts the ladies team 2nd in Division Three.

Matt Lalor had a brilliant run to lead the men's team home, finishing in 7th position overall. with another four Barlickers behind him finishing in the top twenty.  This performance made Barlick first team out of all four divisions. It also placed Barlick firmly at the top of Division Three with maximum points.  The "B" team were led home by Shaun Chew, putting them in 15th position out of all four divisions.

The finishing times and positions for all Barlickers were as follows:
