Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. The race was once more won by the local lad Jimmy Craig, although he was pushed for a lot of the way round by the talented young Josh Boyle. Behind him in 3rd place was another young talent, Matthew Merrick of Bingley.

First lady home was yet another talented young runner, Victoria Merrick from Bingley.

It was also great to see a few of the new Barlick Juniors out and having a go in their first race.

Marc Hartley is living down in Crewe where he works as a teacher, so took on his local 5k. He won the race comfortably in a time of 16.05. Moving in the right direction in time for the 6 stage road relays in September.

Mark Holgate and Lee Parrington both had solid runs at the Lancaster 5K on Saturday. They finished 13th and 14th, with times of 16.53 and 17.07 respectively. Looking good for the forthcoming cross country season.

Five Barlickers and three Trawdeners made their way to Derbyshire at the weekend to take part in a 24 hour endurance race. The team was a mixed team of 8 with every member having to complete at least a lap of the 10k cross country course. The race kicked off in earnest at 12 noon on Saturday and team Fastrax soon got into the swing of things and after leg 4 held a slender lead.  It was a lead they never relinquished over closest challengers Luton AC. In the end the team broke the course record running 36 laps in the allotted time and winning by two laps.

The Saltaire Shaker is a little 15K race which is entirely off road and run on riverside paths, wide towpaths and woodland trails.

Nicholas Kendall took part and finished in 36th position with a time of 1:10:48.

There were 200 finishers.

Four men and one woman represented Barlick in this club championship race. Andrew Driver came home first for the club, just pipping Richard Lowther. John Boothman followed not too far behind and last was Dave Halliday who was just not on form.

Rachel Lowther was our only female representative.

Comment by John Boothman. "This is a very hard race considering it is only about 7km".

Further details follow when the results are available.
