Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Andy Berry was the sole BFR runner today at this race.  It is a lovely 5 mile circular route which is wholly runnable. It  is set in Bleasdale which is in the middle of nowhere but absolutely lovely, especially with the sunshine, only a little wind and 12 degrees heat.

Andy had a good battle with 2 fellow V40s and managed a top ten finish.

Andy reports that it is a really well organised “proper” Fell Race with all the simple things he loves, like a big hill, mud, minimal kit and loads of cake and juice at the end.

Well done Bowland Fell Runners - good event.

Race Winner - Oliver Heaton (Preston)
Ladies Winner - Lindsay Brindle (Horwich)

The Pendle Way is a 45 mile circular route starting and finishing at the Heritage Centre in Barrowford. At 28.5 miles, this event was a shortened version of that route and was limited to 40 places.

The aim of the event was to raise funds for Laura Nuttal & test the organisation/logistics ready for a planned Feb 2020 event over the full 45 mile Pendle Way route.

It was well run with 4 checkpoints to refill water & grab a bit of food. The weather was perfect, not too cold & very little wind. The first 5 miles were off the Pendle Way until Laneshawbridge Bridge then the off road / trails started taking everyone along Boulsworth Bottoms, Catlow Bottoms, Walverden Reservoir, Brierfield, Higham, Newchurch in Pendle, Pendle Hill, Barley then back to the finish in Barrowford.

Five intrepid BFR runners toed the line, Diane "Maccers" MacDonald, Tim Pigot, Paul Elcock, Andy Berry & Gary Bradley. Andy bagged a win, Gary Bradley came home in 5th with Tim & Paul following not far behind. Diane took it as a social event,  so hooked up & ran with three “hunks” from Trawden AC.     Everyone had a great day & also raised money for a deserving cause - Doing it for Laura.   She and her mum are members of Trawden AC.   If anyone wants to donate to this cause, please follow the link below.
