Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. A good start to 2018 for Lee Parrington with a PB in this race.

58 Lee Parrington 33:01 New PB

It was good to see two of our juniors out in these championship races, gaining very valuable race experience. George Fitzpatrick was out in the under 11 race and Jack Villiers  ran in the U15 race where he finished in 10th position.  As a result, he will be getting a letter to stand by as a reserve to represent Lancashire in the Inter County Championship and he will get a place if others have to drop out.

They finished as follows:

U11 Boys
47 George Fitzpatrick 7:56

U15 Boys
10 Jack Villiers 13:39

Well, what a day out for our ladies.  Despite Leanne Dinsdale having to drop out at the last minute with injury and Victoria Peel picking up an injury during the race, the team did really well, finishing 5th team overall with three runners finishing in the top twenty.  Victoria incurred a back injury during the race and whilst many a lesser runner would have dropped out, Victoria battled on to the end, determined to get a finishing place, despite the pain that she was suffering.

In the vet's category, the first two teams were way ahead of the rest of the field, with Blackburn just shading it over Barlick by three points with the Barlick team members getting silver medals.

In addition to the silver vet team medals, there were several individual medals, as follows:

Gold:  Sarah Jarvis - 1st LV40
Silver: Lorraine Slater - 2nd LV45
Bronze: Rachel Villiers - 3rd LV35
Bronze: Paula Cullen 3rd LV40

They finished as follows:

12 Sarah Jarvis 27:21 1st V40
17 Lorraine Slater 28:31 2nd LV45
19 Rachel Villiers 28:49 3rd LV35
27 Paula Cullen 30:45 3rd LV40
42 Victoria Peel 33:22

Chris Smale led the Barlickers home and in so doing earned himself a silver medal as 2nd V50.   Second home for Barlick was James Austin, with Scott McCredie shorly behind.

Silver: Chris Smale 2nd V50

55 Chris Smale 37:40 2nd V50

Jack Villiers started the New Year in style by going off and testing himself in a senior fell race.  And what a great performance he put in too, finishing in 28th position out of a field of 153.  In fell running, every race is different and the first time you have a go at a race, you never run it as well as you could have done, as you are learning the course.  Expect an even higher place from Jack if he has another go at this race next year.

28 Jack Villiers 21:12

First fell race of the New Year and young Jack Villiers took part before rushing off to watch the Burnley game.  He had a particularly good run competing against the seniors, coming home in 28th place.

28 Jack Villiers 21:14

153 finishers.

Corrigan is definitely back and made a great start for the New Year by taking the win in this race.

1 Tom Corrigan 17:59

442 finishers
