Mark Horrocks was a formidable fell runner in his day and in this race, he showed a glimpse of that prowess that made him such a good runner. He not only enjoyed a top ten finish and first V60, but he was not all that far behind runners half of his age. Quite some performance from Mark.
The Barlickers finished as follows:
9 Mark Horrocks 2;45:23
14 John Mason 2:58:22
25 David Pease 3:04:13
26 Andrew Smith 3:10:04
It was a great day out at this marathon which was organised superbly. The weather was good, but if anything a little on the warm side although there was quite a bit of shade on the route coupled witha gentle breeze and a few locals with sprinklers helped cool passing runners. The course is undulating with a 2 mile climb out of Otley, but is nothing too serious. The crowds and support on the route were incredible.
Three Barlickers took part, but none had their club designation in the results. Raymond Banks had a super run finishing 3rd V70.

A lovely sunny evening and dry underfoot made this ideal conditions for this race. Adam Wale of Clayton is on form at the moment and once more he led all the way out and all the way back. He was chased by Matthew Cardus of Settle, but in the end, Adam ran out a comfortable winner.
It was good to see the Smedley brothers turn out in their first race for Barlick, giving back three finishers in the top ten and the team prize, with Nathan leading the Barlickers home. Jack Villiers once more had a good run to secure a top twenty finish.
The ladies races was won by Molly Browne of Wharfedale with Laura Craig leading home the Barlick ladies.

There were good performances all round from Barlick with four finishers in the top ten, with young Jack Villiers in 13th place and already showing signs of improvement since returning to the club.

This was the first marathon for Ben Whitehead. His approach was to take it steady right from the start and to try and maintain that pace throughout the race. His plan worked to perfection with his pace in the second half of the race almost matching that of the first. His feelings on finishing was that he found it easy and much easier than doing the full Three Peaks! He would now like to have another go, but next time to target a time below 2:30. Ben used his run to raise money for prostate cancer.

The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
