Complete Woodentops Pictures of the Night
It was great to see twenty eight of our juniors representing their club in these relays. All our young members did the club proud as our seven teams of four battled over a hilly half a mile circuit. Four of our teams took first place in their respective categories.
The younger boys, girls and mixed teams were first off with the boys finishing a fantastic third overall.
The older group followed and our boys came first in their category and second overall.

Blacko is one of those few remaining fell races where everyone, including the juniors set off together. (Lothersdale next week, is another such race). The races is only 1.4 miles in length and as usual, the juniors set off at a pace, leaving the seniors to try and catch them. The old heads like Alan Life & Chris Smale (nice to see him back running again) know how to pace themselves and they finished in first and second places respectively. Shortly behind them in fifth position was James Tingle. Further down the field, Jack Villiers having set off with the rest of the cavalry charge, found himself in front of his mum. Having attained such a position, he was not going to relinquish it easily and he managed to hold her at bay until he reached the finishing line. Mum still finished first lady though.

Barlick Ladies Win the Team Prize
There was a ding dong battle in the ladies race between Helen Glover and Sarah Tipler. Helen was first to the top, but Sarah was not far behind her and set off back down in a determined manner and soon past her. However, Helen stuck in behind her, hoping that she might be able to catch her on the fast section towards the end of the race. And that is what happened. Towards the end of the race, Helen once more took the lead and the honours, but what a battle between these two girls.
Although she was second, with support from Laura Craig and Hannah Watson, the Barlick ladies made off with the team prize.
In the junior races, Logan McCredie was second boy in the U9 race.
