Richard Treitl was our sole representative in this race and he completed it in a time of 2:42:38, finishing 85th out of 90 finishers. He struggled in the afternoon heat, which was much hotter than predicted, which probably explains why his time was quite a bit slower than the last time he took part in this race, two years ago.

The ladies made the trip to Sutton in Coldfield today and did the club proud yet again. Both men and ladies qualified with their excellent showing at Blackpool two weeks ago. The men had 6 of the original team missing so it was left to the ladies to fly the flag.
Annabel Ralph got the team off to a great start finishing 29th on the first leg and the returning Sarah Tipler ran the fastest Barlick short leg taking back 3 places. Rachel Villiers was only 8 seconds off Sarah's time and pulled another place back and the team were 25th. Jen Hird then took over on the long leg and managed to only lose two places. Leanne Dinsdale pulled one back on leg 5 and Emma Bailey anchored the team home in 26th place. A quality result yet again from the ladies.

A great run today from Ian Livesey saw himself finish in 11th position overall and set a new club record for a marathon of 2 hrs 30 mins. Matt Lalor too got himself into a good rhythm and finished in the top twenty not far behind Ian. Further down the field Mark Holgate pulled a hamstring early on in the race, but to his credit he kept going to finish his first marathon. At his third attempt, Tim Pigott managed a sub 3 hour finish as did Dan Taylor who finished not far behind him.

This is a 27 mile run over Warton Crag, through the picturesque villages of Silverdale, Yealand, Sandside and the seaside village of Arnside. It is a varied route made up of a mixture of hills, roads and off road running, covering a distance of just over a marathon with 2,000 ft of climb. Incredibly, Barlick took the first two places.
