Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Report by Stephen Chew

Twenty three hardy souls made the trip North, on the Barlick bus, to one of the toughest midweek races on the calendar. Plus Paul Elcock, John Boothman and Katie Towers drove up themselves. The first incident of note was the smells emanating from the bowels of Bob Jackson's hound. The wall of Pedigree chum like smells was incessant. As we drew close Jock was given the task of looking after the beast. Then it had a s*#t. Screw thrust a dog bag into the big man's hand and told him to take care of his responsibilities. Jock did, only the bag didn't meaning his chubby fingers pierced through and went straight into it. Oh dear, I've not seen someone feel as sorry for themselves since Pete Jackson DNF'd at Widdop after 100 yards.

As you would expect, there was a good turnout of our junior runners and running on their "home" turf", they produced several race winners.  These were Isaac Reeday, Summer Fitzpatrick (who was actually 1st in the race), Lucille Pickles and Jack Villiers.  There were many other good performances on the day, which are too numerous to mention specifically, but with their increasing race experience, it is encouraging to see our youngsters are starting to become competitive.
