Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. For the second weekend running, Jack Villiers has taken part in two races.  Having secured a place yesterday in the Lancashire Schools team, it was once more back to the fells for Jack.  Amazingly, after the effort he put in yesterday, he still managed a podium finish.

As you would expect in a 19 mile race through snow and bogs, there were some big names in the top ten finishers and among them were Barlick runners David Mirfield and Dave Poole.  Their joint superb performances along with that of Ben Hoyle were enough to secure 2nd team prize for Barlick, behind Calder Valley.

The race was won by Carl Bell, who after 19 miles was just 20 seconds in front of Jack Wood of Ilkley.  Special mention should also be made of Sharon Taylor of Helm Hill, who was not only first lady, but finished 12th overall.

The Barlickers finished as follows:

7 David Mirfield 2:57:35
8 David Poole 3:00:49
52 Ben Hoyle 3:36:38
68 Gary Bradley 3:49:39
108 Jack Ingham 4:08:57

178 starters - 168 finishers

A few of our juniors were out today representing their local schools in the Lancashire Schools Cross Country Championships at Witton Park.  Jack Villiers had an outstanding performance, not only leading his Pendle Team home, but holding off strong challenges from the third and fourth place finishers to take second place overall.  His reward is that he will be going to Leeds to represent Lancashire in the Inter Counties School Championship.
