Sam Wadsworth & Kirsty Hall entered this event in the Harter Fell Class. At the overnight stop, they were in 5th position and 2nd mixed team. However, on the second day, they were the 2nd fastest team and made up a few places to finish in 3rd place overall and 2nd mixed team. The winning man and daughter team of Fiona and Nigel Bunn were quite awesome and finished 1hr 20 min in front of the rest of the pack. The leading times were:

Another Top Ten Finish for Screw
There used to be a race associated with Addigham Gala going up Addingham Moorside, but the building of the by-pass put an end to it. Ilkley Harriers have now put on a new race going up to the summit of Beamsley Beacon and is growing in popularity every year. This year, two Barlickers turned out, Andrew Driver and Pete Beresford. Pictures of both, courtesy of Woodentops are above.
The race was won by Simon Pass of Saltaire Striders in 43:41.
7 Andrew Driver 47:04
30 Pete Beresford 58:12
16 John Boothman 22:20
27 Emma Bailey 23:54
71 Jenna Boothman 30:25
79 Gary Bailey 32:40
It is all nip and tuck at the top of the Pendle & Burnley Grand Prix table. After his defeat by Jimmy Craig in the Burnley Boys 5K, Marc Hartley bounced back to take this race and maintain his position at the top of the table.
In the ladies race, Sarah Tipler maintained her grip on the top of the table place by notching up yet another win. The provisional results show a female runner as finishing in 11th position, but this does not appear to be correct and will no doubt be corrected later.
Further down the table, Emma Bailey had a good run to finish just behind Rachel Lowther and it was nice to see Paul Fryers out in a race. As for James Stead, after the challenging run last night at Stirton, it was amazing to see him get a PB.
The positions for all the Barlickers was:
1 Marc Hartley 15:38
3 Jimmy Craig 16:10
7 Nick Treitl 16:54
19 Andy Berry 18:14
29 Sarah Tipler 18:53 (first lady)
43 Derek Walkden 19:44
73 Richard Starkie 21:27
89 Paul Fryers 22:27
104 Rachel Lowther 23:22
105 Emma Bailey 23:27
129 James Stead 25:34 PB
It was nice to see a good turn out from Barlick at this race, including several of our lady members. Andrew Driver led the Barlickers home and he worked his way through the field to finish in 5th position. It was good to see some of our newer members take on this race such as Pete Beresford and James Stead and it was also nice to see Barry Rawlinson back out on the fells, running as a Barlicker.
The ladies race was won by the redoubtable Gill Myers and in her wake there were some of our lady members, many of whom, this time last year, would never have dreamed that they would now be competing in a fell race. The finishing times for all Barlickers were:
5 Andrew Driver 42:19
22 Richard Lowther 46:10
29 John Boothman 48:04
31 Glenn Whittaker 48:57
35 Dave Halliday 49:23
37 Pete Beresford 50:05
46 Rachel Lowther (3rd lady)
52 Barry Rawlinson 53:58
53 Jean Rawlinson 54:28
54 Jennifer Hird 54:29
61 Lucy Beresford 57:02
63 Leanne Dinsdale 58:10
68 James Stead 1:02:46
After the distractions of last weekend, it is nice to get back to fell racing. The talented U23 Jamie Parkinson of Pudsey & Bramley showed the field the way home, winning the race in 18:45. Barlick had four finishers in the top twenty, a feat only surpassed by the mighty Calder Valley. The Barlickers finished as follows:
5 Jimmy Craig 19:55
7 Nick Treitl 20:32
17 Andy Berry 22:50
20 Andy Driver 23:05
32 James Tingle 24:10
This race was first run in 1981. Peter Jebb designed the course and for the first twenty years, he organised it. He gave up doing so because he had other commitments in June and his friend Alan Greenwood of Calder Valley, himself a regular race organiser, took it on for a further five years. He then passed it on to the present race organiser Graham Wadsworth and a result, this classic fell race joined the portfolio of races organised by Barlick Fell Runners.
This year, both Pete Jebb and Alan Greenwood were having a day out and they went out of their way to stop off at the race. It was nice to see them both there. Alan took a short video of the race which he has now put on You Tube.
You can access the video at:
36 Lorraine SLATER 27:18
55 Abigail PARK 32:42
18 Andrew CHEW 20:09 PB
A brilliant run by Rachel Lowther saw her finish second lady and only a couple of seconds off coming first. Lucy Beresford also had a good run finishing 4th lady.
54 Rachel Lowther 52:17 (2nd lady)
64 Lucy Beresford 57:17 (4th lady)
Young Harley Treitl and his dad Nick were out in this race. Positions and results follow as soon as they are available from Wharfedale Harriers.
A couple of Barlickers were at this race:
64 Lee Edwards 38:43
88 Jean Rawinson 42:13
112 finishers.
There would have been a third Barlicker there, but John Boothman was late getting away from work and did not make it on time. He therefore had to make do with a training run on part of the Calderdale Way.;
Good run from Chris Smedley overlooked from last weekend:
3 Chris SMEDLEY 21:07
The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
