Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. 5 Andy Berry 54:31
13 Andrew Carson 56:59
32 Andrew Driver 61:17

A couple of Barlick Fell Runners, brothers James & Sam Wadsworth, entered this typical Dales Gala race, that is a quick up and down.

Sam finished in 11th place and James, not used to the rigours of fell running since he went to live in Italy, finished further down the field.

11 Sam Wadsworth 12:25
41 James Wadsworth 14:57

The winner of the race was local farmer Ted Mason of Wharfedale, with Ian Holmes of Bingley, second.

New PBs all round this week for the Barlickers:

19 Derek WALKDEN 20:26 New PB
55 Michael ALEXANDER 23:19 New PB
142 Sarah ALEXANDER 35:35 New PB

Tabitha Nell Berry celebrated her 7th Birthday in style by receiving her official BFR vest. Tabby has been itching to try fell running for a while now and certainly has plenty of energy to give it a go. She is hoping her first race will be on 17th August at Gargrave Show, where she can try running in a competitive environment.

6 Lucas PAYNE 18:20
179 Kathryn PAYNE 27:22

A run at Borrowdale yesterday and a run at Farleton Knott today.  The enthusiasm of youth.  A tired Scott Baistow finished this race in 71st position in a time of 34:42.

This is the sort of event that would appeal to Shaun Chew, that is, a ten mile run with a series of pretty tough obstacles.  With Shaun on honeymoon, it fell to Andy Berry to represent the club and he proved that he is no sissy, dealing with the run and those challenging obstacles in style and finishing 6th out of 1,097 finishers with a time of 1:26:03.

List of obstacles

The race was won by Gary Shaw of Burnley in a time of 39:48.  The Barlickers finished as follows:

2 Stephen Chew 40:03
16 Andrew Carson 46:33
20 Simon Kelly 47:10
72 Tom Mason 59:27
