Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. A very pleasant, although windy day, made it almost ideal conditions for this race.

In the junior races, Tabitha Berry, fresh from her debut in competitive racing at Gargrave, had a run out in the U9 race where she finished 43rd in a time of 4:24.

In the senior race, Andy Berry ascended well and was in 11th place at the summit, but surprisingly, he lost places on the descent.

On the other hand, Sam Wadsworth who had competed in a road relay in the morning, was in 20th position at the summit, but he gained places on the descent.

Dave Halliday, looked completely shattered at the summit and the reason became apparent when he managed to find the breath to saye that he had completed a triathlon in the morning.  The finishing positions were:

1 Jack Simpson, Leeds City 23:17
14 Andy Berry 27:01
16 Sam Wadsworth 27:27
68 Dave Halliday 34:08

In very windy conditions the two Barlickers both got new PBs.

Apologies for the lateness of this report, but two of our girls took part in this run for the first time and finished as follows:

110 Samantha DAY 29:19
141 Michelle HIRD 35:13

Well done girls.

This race, which is over roads and tarmac paths has been run since 1984 and it attracts the top runners from the North West of England.  Against this background, Stephen Chew entered this race and finished in 6th place with a PB.  His time was:

6 Stephen Chew 32:49 PB

764 finishers.

There were many Barlick vests on view in the Fell Races and it was nice to see a couple of our juniors, Harley Treitl and Tabitha Berry having a go.

Nick Treitl led home the Barlick seniors in 12th place, followed by Andy Berry, who was 13th.  Full senior finishing positions and times are:

12 Mick Treitl 25:28

Four Barlickers entered this race and there were some good performances all round.  They were led home by Andy Berry who had a cracking run to finish 5th overall.  Finishing places and times were as follows:

5 Andy Berry 54:31

The ladies race was won by Sarah Tipler of Wharfedale, ahead of Amy Green of Keighley & Craven.

The race was won by Ben Livesey of Birchfield Harriers in a time of 52:08.

2 Stephen Chew 55:24
6 Ian Livesey 59:58

A couple of Barlick Fell Runners, brothers James & Sam Wadsworth, entered this typical Dales Gala race, that is a quick up and down.

Sam finished in 11th place and James, not used to the rigours of fell running since he went to live in Italy, finished further down the field.

11 Sam Wadsworth 12:25
41 James Wadsworth 14:57

The winner of the race was local farmer Ted Mason of Wharfedale, with Ian Holmes of Bingley, second.
