Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This was a new venue for this league and was more cross country than fell.

Out representing Barlick today were new members Julian Hood, living fell running legend, Jean Rawlinson and Gary Parkinson.

The Barlickers were led home by Julian Hood who finished in 12th place, followed by Sam Wadsworth in 24th place.

John Boothman was our only representative in this race, but he was rewarded with a chip time of 42:00 which is new PB.

102 John Boothman 42:00

453 finishers.

A bit of a disappointing turn out for this race in that there were nearly as many supporters as runners.. Luckily, we had just enough to make a team.  As you would expect, the conditions were muddy and the going was tough, but everyone knuckled down and put on a good show and everyone looked to be going well.

Nick Treitl, running in spikes, admits that he might have gone off a bit too fast and on the first lap he was in 13th place overall and he lost an odd place or two in what seemed like never ending laps of the course, but he still finished in a very creditable 16th position..  The Barlick finishing order and times were:

16 Nick Treitl 32:46
42 Rob Weir 35:23
54 Dan Taylor 36:47
90 Des Walkden 39:09
114 James Fent 42:01
129 Scott Baistow 43:20

Barlick were 10th team out of all four divisions and thanks to the tremendous effort put in by every one who took part, scored the maximum ten points from this event.  Barlick are leading the table, with 31 points from four races, but we can be beaten by other teams if they accrue enough points in the last two races.  It is therefore all to play for.
