Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Lorraine Slater and Emma Taylor took part in this race in very hot and humid conditions. It was so tough, far worse than last year as the times show.

12 Lorraine Slater (2nd lady, 1st F40)
21 Emma Taylor (3rd lady)

This race is a bit of a favourite for Richard Treitl and this year he was the only Barlicker there.

Four Barlickers took on this race which is used by many as a practice for the main race in 3 weeks time. The race sets off at 7pm and you go straight to the top of the Llanberis pass where the finish is at the summit and get greeted with the best views the UK has to offer.   An absolute treat of a race.

This race is something completely different.  The race starts at Bury station on the East Lancashire Steam Railway.  On the whistle the runners set off north.  The train sets off south, changes tracks and then sets off north in pursuit of the runners.  Friends and supporters can enjoy the ride on the train, shouting encouragement to the runners as they both make the eleven mile journey up to Rawtenstall station.

Jon Cleaver took part and fought a hard race, with the first three finishers constantly changing places until the last mile, where Craig Jones of Manchester YMCA managed to edge ahead, nudging John into second place.  As regards the train, it was no contest, Jon beat it by 34 minutes.
