A couple of Barlick Fell Runners, brothers James & Sam Wadsworth, entered this typical Dales Gala race, that is a quick up and down.

Tabitha Nell Berry celebrated her 7th Birthday in style by receiving her official BFR vest. Tabby has been itching to try fell running for a while now and certainly has plenty of energy to give it a go. She is hoping her first race will be on 17th August at Gargrave Show, where she can try running in a competitive environment.

A run at Borrowdale yesterday and a run at Farleton Knott today. The enthusiasm of youth. A tired Scott Baistow finished this race in 71st position in a time of 34:42.
This is the sort of event that would appeal to Shaun Chew, that is, a ten mile run with a series of pretty tough obstacles. With Shaun on honeymoon, it fell to Andy Berry to represent the club and he proved that he is no sissy, dealing with the run and those challenging obstacles in style and finishing 6th out of 1,097 finishers with a time of 1:26:03.
The race was won by Gary Shaw of Burnley in a time of 39:48. The Barlickers finished as follows:
2 Stephen Chew 40:03
16 Andrew Carson 46:33
20 Simon Kelly 47:10
72 Tom Mason 59:27
The race was won by James Hall of Wharfedale in a time of 23:43, with Jimmy Craig of Wharfedale second. In 6th place was the amazing Annabel Mason, who was the first U18 runner, first female runner and finishing in a time of 26:11 which was a new course record.
The only Barlicker at this race was Sam Wadsworth who finished in 8th place in a time of 27:45.
212 Scott Baistow 4:42:14

The first ever Towneley Park 10k saw 6 Barlickers take to the start line. The course is quite a hilly and there were some fast runners in attendance, ensuring that the pace would be unforgiving. A group of 5-6 runners broke away at the start with Marc Hartley, Gary Shaw, Jimmy Craig, Will Smith and Stephen Chew setting the pace. By Mount Lane, where the classic Cliviger '6' used to start, the front group had dropped to 4. Then Will Smith dropped away half way up the climb. Steve Chew made a break for it, forcing the pace at the brow of the hill and he and Gary Shaw pulled a little lead out of Marc Hartley, a move which proved to be decisive. For the next 2 miles the lead changed about 5 times between Shaw and Chew. As they entered the park Shaw put in a decisive burst and finished 13 secs in front of Chew. All the Barlickers in the race ran well, with the ever improving Andy Berry and Andy Carson both inside the top 20. Good performances too from Andy 'Screw' Driver, Des Walkden and Chris Smedley.
2 Stephen Chew 33:01
16 Andy Berry 37:59
19 Anndy Carson 38:25
45 Chris Smedley 41:54
48 Andrew Driver 42:24
59 Derek Walkden 43:38
The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
