Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. 111 Barlick Ladies 6:18:08   Sarah Bell / Leanne Dinsdale, Jacqueline Collins / Jennifer Hird, Victoria Peel / Lorraine Slater (14th Open Female Team)

What a finish in the U11 boys race.  It was neck and neck as Jacob Reeday and Sammy Pickerill of Southport raced towards the line, with Sammy just edging it by a fraction of a second.  But what tremendous spirit showed by Jacob.  That is what racing is all about.

The new season got underway at Cuerdon, with the men looking to defend their championship status and the women, newly promoted to the first division, looking to make their mark at the top level.  The ladies were off first with somewhat of a depleted team in that several runners were missing because of the FRA relays the following day.  However, it shows what strength we have in depth, as the girls who turned out, put on a brilliant show to enable the team to finish second in the division.  For her first outing for Barlick in the cross country team, Sarah Jarvis made her mark, leading the Barlickers home and finishing 5th overall.  Because all of our leading runners were in the V35 category, we finished first team in that category.

5 Sarah Jarvis 22:47
11 Rachel Villiers 23:40
20 Paula Clark 25:42
26 Laura Craig 26:20
64 Cloey Mason 29:58
85 Lisa Fitzpatrick 32:09
88 Katie Towers 32:47
97 Marie Beech 34:07
134 Sharon Newbold 40:07

It was the same with the men.  The team was depleted because of the FRA relays.  Again what strength in depth do we have as those who turned out put on a tremendous show to bring the team home in second place against a very strong Preston team.  Marc Hartley led the team home, with Lee Parrington not far behind and these two were supported by Stephen Shorrocks, James Tingle, Dan Balshaw and Ian Cocks.

14 Marc Hartley 39:25
18 Lee Parrington 40:00

130 Paul Elcock 49:15
132 Andrew Smith 49:25
162 Pete Beresford 52:39
208 Richard Starkie 59:05

Scott Boardman was out in this race and he finished with a PB - just!

360 Scott Boardman 1:29:15

About 7,500 finishers

Despite having yesterday's cross country race in her legs Cloey Mason managed a massive PB and a sub fifty time and Terry Lonergan, despite his advancing years also managed the same.

109 Terry Lonergan 49:59
