Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Tom Adams of Ilkley is on form at the moment and he loves running on the moors above Haworth.  It was no surprise therefore that at the start of this race, he sprinted off into the lead.  However, tonight, he was hotly pursued from the start by promising youngster and new Barlick recruit Josh Boyle.  Josh gave Tom a run for his money, but as the race progressed, the stamina of the older man made itself felt and in the end, he ran out the comfortable race winner.  Josh was 2nd in the race and naturally, the first U16 runner. The fact that he can chase the top runners at his age, show how much potential he has for the future.  Two other Barlickers turned out and finished as follows.

1 Tom Adams 15:22 (ilkley)
2 Josh Boyle 16:07 (1st MU16)
145 Rachel Lowther 23:59
271 Graham Wadsworth 34:20

This was the second time for the men entering the Northern 12 stage and they were hoping to improve on the 15th place finish at Sefton Park last year and maintain the 100% record of qualifying for the Nationals at Sutton.  Marc Hartley got the team off to a solid start on leg 1 bringing the team back in 29th place.  Jimmy Craig pulled 8 places back on leg 2 with a cracking run off minimal training.  Up third was Tom Corrgan who again showed his great form with the clubs quickest long leg of the day and pulling the team up to 16th place.  Russell Parrington maintained 16th with a solid run and handed over to Matt Lalor who ran well and pulled back another place.  Dan Balshaw was making his relay debut for Barlick and again pulled back another place which saw us up to 14th.  Gary Shaw was running the last long leg and closed the gap to 13th to 8secs with another good run.  Ian Livesey quickly took over Border Harriers and started closing the gap on Holmfirth and Trafford.  Then Nick Treitl missed the changeover but only lost one place dropping the team down to 14th.  Stephen Chew took Holmfirth and closed the gap to Trafford to 11secs, Andy Berry had a good run taking the team up to 12th.  Luke Maude was running the Anchor leg and brought the team home in 11th taking over Bolton with 800m to spare.  Another good performance from the lads again and a trip to Sutton for the Nationals has been booked again.  Well done to Salford Harriers who won the event with local lad Tom Cornthwaite on the glory leg.

The ladies were entering this event for the first time and they welcomed back Sarah Tipler and two new members in Annabel Ralph and Kelly Whiteside into the team.  The ladies have been working really hard and getting good turnouts at the track over the last few weeks.  Annabel got the ladies underway and after the first mile she was 6th!  At the changeover point she was a brilliant 15th and the ladies were well on their way.  Jen Hird was next up and took a place back with the quickest short leg of the day.  Leanne Dinsdale had another solid run off minimal training bringing the team back in 19th.  Sarah Tipler showed her quality is still there taking the team back up 5 places with the quickest long leg of the day for the club.  Kelly Whiteside maintained 14th with a good run on her least favourite surface and Paula Cullen had a good run on the Anchor leg bringing the team home in 15th and qualifying the ladies team for the national 6 stage for the first time.  A great day for the ladies and a big confidence boost ahead of Calderdale.

Another day of history making for the club, well done everybody.  First Lancashire club and first none city club.
