Two years ago, we joined the Mid Lancs Cross Country League and as with all newcomers, had to start in Division Four, the lowest division. Last year, we were Division Four Champions and got promoted to Division Three. At the end of this season, we again finished as Division Champions and thus secured promotion to Division Two.
This year, we also had a vet's team and again they started in Division Three - the lowest Division. They finished as runners up in this Division behind Thornton-Cleveleys, which was good enough to secure promotion to Division Two.
Our ladies narrowly missed out on promotion by a couple of points and in the early part of the season before injury struck, Sarah Tipler put in some stunning performances to win a bronze medal for the best individual results from all divisions. She achieved this by only completing four races and we can only wonder what she might have done had she been fit enough to compete in them all.
The above picture shows only a few of the Barlick members who participated in this series, but Cross Country is very much a team sport and these excellent results were only achieved by everyone who turned out to represent the club.
In the gallery are also other pictures of the night. Further pictures may be added later.
