This is a tough challenge and not for the faint hearted, but three intrepid BFR members made the trip to Wasdale Head for this 21 mile, 9000ft AL Lakeland Classic.
It was a cloudy start to the day but by the time race start came, the forecast was proving accurate with the sun beating down. It was a day for slapping on the sunscreen & staying hydrated.
140 started and only 117 finished.
It was very hot & humid on the first couple of climbs but a bit of cloud started building up as the afternoon wore on and the runners got some respite from the heat. Gary Bradley had a good run and knocked 18 minutes off his previous best. Stephen Shorrock also had a good run too, knocking 6 minutes off his best as well. As for Jack Ingham, he said that had forgotten just how tough it was.
