Tim Chadwick, Zak Kaye and Ian Livesey (Livers) took the trip to the lakes for this race, which is just under 8 miles and ascent of around 3500ft, taking in Coniston Old Man. It was a cracking day for a fell race, and clear skies ensured everyone had great views at the top, which were well earned after the lung busting first climb to check point one.
The race always attracts a quality field, yet this did not stop Ian Holmes, the grand old man of fell running, from coming 2nd. This year, the race was part of the Lakes Grand Prix, so increased runners meant that Tim went from 34th last last year to 54th, despite the fact that he was four mins quicker than in 2018. He was just four seconds off his target,
Livers had a casual run out, saying that he was only running to accompany Zak. He came home in at 117th position, having departed ways with Zak a few miles in.
As for Zak, he never mentioned to his companions that he had taken part in the Three Peaks Race last week and not only that, he raced in the mid-week Lothersdale race. Given all of that, he finished in very respectable place of 174.
54 Tim Chadwick 1:30:04
117 Ian Livesey 1:40:07
174 Zac Kaye 1:47:36
312 finishers.
