Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This year we had two teams entered in this event a Vets team and a Mixed Team. Livers and Julian got the Vets off to a good start brining them home 1st overall and just over a minute clear of Pudsey Pacers in 2nd. For the mixed team a last minute change due to injury meant that Newbold took a beasting from Andrew Chew but finished a respectable 39th place.

Only John Boothman flying the Barlick flag at this event.

The winner of this race was Chris Miller from Harrogate.  The couple of Barlickers finished:

4 Julian Hood 37:27
16 Shaun Chew 39:55

167 ran.

5 Dan Mills 40:59

Barlick dominated this race with Julian Hood winning the race out right and Rachel Villiers winning the ladies race.  In addition Barlick took several category first places.  Jamie Milligan injured his ankle and had to drop out and Heather Driver sacrificed her race to help him.  Eventually, he got a lift back to the start on the local farmer's quad bike. These are the provisional results.  200 started, 197 finished, 2 injured, 1 nurse Heather.

A bit late with this one, but would you believe that it has taken this length of time for the results to appear.  Anyway, Chris Smale had a great race to finish in 2nd place, only thirty seconds behind race winner, Gaz Pemberton from Wharfedale.  Not bad for a V50.

5 Chris Smale 26:23 (1st MV50)
23 John Boothman 31:35

For a change it was a lovely day for this race, with a clear blue sky greeting the runners at the start.  There were fewer runners than normal this year due to the Championship Race taking place at Tebay, but the closer friendly atmosphere was a useful reminder of how fell races used to be.

Two Barlickers turned out in the sweltering conditions to take part in this race:

10 Eddie Simpson (1st V45)
67 Vicky Holgate (2nd W40)

Lucas Payne was over in the Isle of Wight and he turned out for the local Park Run.  It was very hot and quite a convoluted hilly course, but he says that the organisation was very impressive with places for kit, car keys etc.
