It was the eye of a tiger (well a cheetah actually) Elle Honeyman, that won the U11 girls race.

As you would expect, there was a good turnout of our junior runners and running on their "home" turf", they produced several race winners. These were Isaac Reeday, Summer Fitzpatrick (who was actually 1st in the race), Lucille Pickles and Jack Villiers. There were many other good performances on the day, which are too numerous to mention specifically, but with their increasing race experience, it is encouraging to see our youngsters are starting to become competitive.

These races were unusual in that they were uphill only. Jack Reeday demonstrated how good he is at ascending by coming home in second place behind Rowan Ashworth of Ambleside in the U11 race, where there were 66 finishers.

More & more juniors are now graduating from training to racing and this experience is beginning to be reflected in the results. In the U9s, George Fitzpatrick finished 3rd with Chloe Boothman finishing 2nd girl and Evie Scott 3rd girl. The U11 race saw Harley Treitl put in a determined performance to dominate the race and come home the race winner. The U13 race saw Jenna Boothman finish 2nd girl and the U15 race was a ding dong battle all the way through between Jack Villiers and Eric Beaumont of Keighley & Craven, with Jack just managing to keep his nose in front at the finish and take the honours. This was great racing from both youngsters.

Our youngsters are now becoming more comfortable with racing and today saw them take 3 first places. Bella McCredie was first girl in the U7 race, Lucille Pickles was first girl in the U11 race and Jack Villiers won the U15 race, and not only did he win it, but he won it in style, with a comfortable win over Michael Stevens of Clayton. This makes it two wins for him his week. Jacob Reeday also had a good run to finish 2nd in the U11 race where he was actually the first U9 runner.

It was good to see a few Barlickers turn out on the day getting some racing experience under their belts. It was a particularly good run from George Fitzpatrick who got himself in the leading group of four runners who broke away from the rest of the pack and he managed to hold off the promising Jonathnon Archer of Ilkley to finish in second place, just a few seconds behind race winner Rowan Ashworth of Ambleside.

Failure to get sufficient numbers out in enough races has meant that we have not been in contention as teams in many of the age groups. Once more, our U11 boys have done well by winning bronze medals, but they were our only team finishers. There were some good individual performances, notably Harley Treitl finishing 10th in the U11 boys and Jack Villiers who was 10th in the U13 boys.
A good day out for the juniors who turned up for these races, with Bella McCredie 2nd U9, Jack VIliiers 2nd U15 and Logan McCredie 6th. Times follow.
Harley Treitl was our only junior out in this race and as usual, he put on a great performance. He finished 4th overall, but but most of those in front of him were in a higher age category
4 Harley Treitl 8:22
In the U11 race Lucile Pickles led the Barlick contingent home, finishing 2nd girl, whilst in the U15 race, Jack Villiers showed that his race win 4 days ago at Liver Hill was no fluke by once more mixing it at the front of the field and finishing in 2nd position.

This years championship was held at Dalby Forest and several of our juniors were out racing. We are still awaiting full results but early news is that Jacob Reeday had a strong run to take the bronze in the Year 5 Boys race. For the girls Lucille Pickles took 5th in the Year 4 Girls race which Chloe Boothman also ran in but we are still awaiting a finishing position for her.
Full results will follow when available.

The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
