A warm but overcast day saw 137 runners gather for the race up Weets. Shortly after the start, Danny Collinge had to drop out with an injured knee, which was a pity, as it was very competitive at the front and Danny would have been in contention with those leading runners.
As it turned out, Tom Corrigan had another cracking performance to comfortably run out the winner, ahead of previous race winner Sam Watson of Wharfedale. Third home was Julian Hood of Barlick.
In the ladies race, Sarah Tipler followed up her winning run last week with another top performance to once again take first place. She finished in front of Lynn Clough of Chorley and Ali Keats.
It was good to see some youngsters taking part in this race with Jordan Mcdonald taking the honours as first U18 and finishing 15th overall.

The conditions were good for this race, although perhaps it was a little too warm to call them ideal. Grant Cunliffe of Rossendale had a cracking run out and had a good lead at the summit, where unfortunately, he made a wrong turn. By the time he realised this, his lead had been lost and he dropped out of the race. If he had continued on the correct route, the probability is that he would have won the race.
However, Grant's misfortune was David Mirfield's lucky break and he took advantage of this to run out the race winner, with V45 Paul Crabtree hot on his heals. Third home was Jordan McDonald from Clayton. Sam Wadsworth was next and first Barlicker and he led home a train of Barlickers, which ensured that Barlick took the team prize.
In the women's race, Sarah Tipler showed that she is rapidly regaining her old form and she was first woman, finishing 11th overall. Second woman home was Lorraine Slater, another Barlicker who is returning from injury and she was naturally first W45. The third woman was the ever improving Autumn Howard of Trawden AC. Leanne Dinsdale was the 4th woman home ensuring that the Barlick women took the team prize too.
The early news is that Andy Berry had another good race to lead the Barlickers home in 3rd place, with Carl Pawson a couple of places behind.
Karen Brindle had a cracking run to finish first woman with Hannah Watson 2nd.
3 Andy Berry 31:26
7 Carl Pawson 33:02
27 Karen Brindle 39:47
33 Hannah Watson 40:47
