Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. It was a record turnout of both juniors and seniors for this race and given the recent dry weather, it was perhaps the day to test the course record set by Tom Cornthwaite.  Gary Priestley of Salford was up for that challenge.  He was leading comfortably as he came through the gate into the lane leading to the finish.  Cheered on by the spectators, who knew that a new record was on the cards, he charged down the lane, shaving 4 seconds off Tom's record.

This year the U15s ran to the trig point on Weets in an out and back race.  This made it a challenging run for them without the severity of the full senior race.  The race winner was Jack Villiers of Barlick.

In the ladies race, Lorraine Slater was the race winner, with Helen Buchan the runner up.  Then followed two more Barlickers, Jacqueline Collins & Rachel Villiers.

Ricky Lightfoot was the race winner in a time of 1:02:18

Danny Butterworth turned for this event with a target of finishing under the two hour mark, which he did by 13 seconds!.  However, this was enough to earn him a PB.  Danny describes it as an epic race with stunning views and afterwards everyone cooled down in the lake.

When Danny Collinge is on form, he takes some beating and so it proved today, when he came home in first place.  There was a battle going on behind him for second place between two Barlick team mates, with David Mirfield just shading it over Nick Treitl.  Those two performances, together with a great run from Jon Cleaver ensured that Barlick took the team prize.

In the ladies race, Jacqueline Collins has a great run to take the honours and she was chased home by Rhiannon Wickham of Clayton and a terrific performance by 16 year old Briony Holt saw her take third place. The fourth lady home was Claire Vincent of Clayton and with three runners out of the top four finishers, the Clayton ladies took the team prize.

There was a good turn out from Barlick and they finishes as follows:
