Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. The race this year was won by Ricky Lightfoot and great run by Nick Treitl saw him finish in 20th position.  Luke Maude was another runner to have a  great run to finish 1st Under 25

20 Nick Treitl 3:23:25
33 Luke Maude 3:34:04 (1st MU25)
37 Jimmy Craig 3:37:14

607 John Boothman 5:12:13

The table below shows the breakdown of times and positions at the various check points and have been taken from the official results web site.  However, the positions at the Hill Inn and Ingleborough look very suspect, as they are missing several of the top runners.

In the first three Bunny Runs, Barlick Fell Runners were conspicuous by their absence.  However, they made up for it last night and entered several teams and it was good to see so many Barlick shirts around, some worn by members running their first ever race.

Sarah Tipler had a particularly good run to record a time of 11:14, which is the 16th fastest ever Bunny Relay Leg time.  Woodentops are in the process of altering the results to record this.

The official results are now available and details of the Barlick teams are below.

Barlick Results

It was nice to see Chewy out in a Barlick vest this weekend, even though he was feeling rough and did not perform as well as he can. Having said that, he still beat 97% of the field.

9 Stephen Chew 38:34

462 finishers.

Race Report

Richard Treitl likes to take part in races and he was out again this weekend in Snowdonia, in this 10 miles, 2800 ft race.  His account of the day is below.

"I am glad that I looked at the map before the race", said Mike Fanning, the surprise winner.  Apparently the top thirty runners went for a jolly run around the moors, leaving the field open for Mike.  No such problems for our own Jean Rawlinson who knows her way round most race routes.

141 Jean Rawlinson

Time follows.

150 finishers.

Stuart Bryan did the relay with David Poole who should be joining the club imminently. Stuart did the running bit, which was supposed to be a circular route taking in Grizedale Pike, but this was cut short due to weather ie it was windy.  David did the next mountain bike section. Stuart then did the second run, but admits that he "bonked" due to him recovering from man flu and also, running again after a one an a half hour rest didn't help. The second run took in Lords seat and Barf.  The team finished second out of the relay pairs field of seven.

Anyone who thinks that a pub run is "just another training session", should think again.  It is a bit of light training and lots of social banter.  Read all about the night's run as recounted by Stephen Chew.

Further good news from the weekend as Sarah Tipler earned her first county vest for being the second Lancashire lady in the English championship race at Barley. Sarah finished 11th overall,  but the race was also a Lancashire Championship race. The first Lancashire lady was Lindsey Brindle of Horwich and third was Helen Leigh of Blackburn Harriers, who completed the podium places.  Sarah has been training exceptionally hard and this is great reward for the work she has put in.  Not only that, but she only started running less than two years ago, so there could still be a lot more to come from Sarah.  The inter counties race will take place on 18th May at Witton Park, Blackburn.  Well done Sarah - you have done yourself and the club proud.
