As the name suggests, this is a tough one mile race in which everyone, young and old, run together. At the front of the field, there was a close battle between James Hall and Tom Adams, with the young James, just shading it. First home for Barlick was Andy Berry in 7th place and an amazing run by Jacob Reeday saw him finish in 28th place overall, (out of a field of 164) and beat John Boothman in the process. He was 2nd U9 boy with George Fitzpatrick finishing 5th U9 boy. It does not seem at that long ago that we started our junior section and already some have graduated from being merely runners to racers. The group as a whole are doing well and with regular training, many more will soon join this elite group.

These championships took place in Arco in Italy and Josh Boyle was representing Great Britain in the Junior Men Race. He finished just over half way down the field, which is a considerable achievement, considering that he was one of the youngest runners there and he was racing against lads three years older than himself.
This will have been invaluable experience for this young man to take forward to future international events.
Just for the record, Great Britain came 4th behind Turkey, Italy and France.
Tom Corrigan ran out the comfortable winner of this race, ahead of Gareth Booth of Horwich, with Julian Hood coming home third.
In the ladies race, Sarah Tipler was second lady behind Louise Powell-Smith of Clayton, with Lorraine Slater in third place and first W45.
Barlick also took both male and female team prizes.
There are no junior results out yet, but the brief news is that Lucille Pickles was 1st U8 girl, George Fitzpatrick 1st U8 boy, Jenna Boothman was 2nd U12 girl, Elliot Phillips 2nd U12 boy,
