Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This is a new race this year, organised by Trawden AC and it was just a bit of a tester.  It is  26.2 miles with 4,495 ft of ascent and similar to the Yorkshireman.  Next year this race will be on the 22nd September 2019 under the guise of The Lancashireman!

Tim Piggot set off at a steady pace which he maintained throughout the race and took the victory.  John Boothman surprisingly found himself in second place, but he had to battle as it is a while since he ran such a distance.

In this event, individuals were running for their schools rather than their clubs, but it was nice to see Barlick juniors out there showing off their fell running prowess.

First home in the Y7 race was Jacob Reeday and no victory was ever more deserved.  He has had a cracking season and has produced some great performances and he did so again in this race, not only winning the race, but doing so with over a margin of one minute over the chasing pack.  And that is not to belittle that chasing pack - it contained some very good junior runners.
