Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. 97 Scott Boardman 1:29:33

1460 finishers.

Won by Marc Brown (Salford Harriers) 15.28

14 Anna Bella Ralph (1st Lady) 18.03
81Terry Lonergan (3rd M65) 23.39

Anna’s comments   Before starting this race the weather was quite warm, but this did not stop me thinking I could go under 18 minutes for 5k. Although the route was very flat, when running the race it was very windy all the way around the course which meant I had to use lots of strength and effort to push through it. Annoyingly, this meant that during the last mile I was feeling pretty burnt out and struggled to conserve some of my energy for the final part of the race. In the end I was the first lady to cross the finish line in 18.03 which I am pleased with as it's a PB and I now hold the course record. Other than this the atmosphere was great , large crowds of people cheering and it felt good to be part of a carnival.

Terry’s comments   Recent 10K races forecasted a reasonable target would have been 24 minutes for this 5K race just south of Preston , so I was pleased to come away with 23.39. Starting at 12.30 the race virtually acted as a warm up to the carnival parade and the rest of the day’s activities, so the encouragement from the crowd and the sun on the shoulders was appreciated. Shame that the wind took the edge of the times.

205 finished.

This year we had two teams entered in this event a Vets team and a Mixed Team. Livers and Julian got the Vets off to a good start brining them home 1st overall and just over a minute clear of Pudsey Pacers in 2nd. For the mixed team a last minute change due to injury meant that Newbold took a beasting from Andrew Chew but finished a respectable 39th place.
