Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. These races were unusual in that they were uphill only.  Jack Reeday demonstrated how good he is at ascending by coming home in second place behind Rowan Ashworth of Ambleside in the U11 race, where there were 66 finishers.

More & more juniors are now graduating from training to racing and this experience is beginning to be reflected in the results.  In the U9s, George Fitzpatrick finished 3rd with Chloe Boothman finishing 2nd girl and Evie Scott 3rd girl. The U11 race saw Harley Treitl put in a determined performance to dominate the race and come home the race winner.  The U13 race saw Jenna Boothman finish 2nd girl and the U15 race was a ding dong battle all the way through between Jack Villiers and Eric Beaumont of Keighley & Craven, with Jack just managing to keep his nose in front at the finish and take the honours.  This was great racing from both youngsters.

Our youngsters are now becoming more comfortable with racing and today saw them take 3 first places.  Bella McCredie was first girl in the U7 race, Lucille Pickles was first girl in the U11 race and Jack Villiers won the U15 race, and not only did he win it, but he won it in style, with a comfortable win over Michael Stevens of Clayton.  This makes it two wins for him his week.  Jacob Reeday also had a good run to finish 2nd in the U11 race where he was actually the first U9 runner.

It was good to see a few Barlickers turn out on the day getting some racing experience under their belts.  It was a particularly good run from George Fitzpatrick who got himself in the leading group of four runners who broke away from the rest of the pack and he managed to hold off the promising Jonathnon Archer of Ilkley to finish in second place, just a few seconds behind race winner Rowan Ashworth of Ambleside.
