Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Mid Lancs Cross Country League, Rossall - 11 February 2017

Although they are already Division Two Champions, the ladies put out ten runners. and on the day came up against a terrific Blackpool team who were easily the first ladies team, having three runners in the top four. However, there was no pressure on our girls to be outright winners at this event, but the V35s had to do well as did the B team.  The Vet 35s were first team and B team were second.  The vets are now sure of being  the V35 Champions.  Our B team are are still joint top of Division Three and it will be down the the last race of the season to see if they get promoted and replace our A team in Division two.

Senior Men

There was tough competition at the front of this race.  The leaders all set off at a hot pace and Tom Corrigan matched them and was in second place as the came along side the sea wall for the first time..Having said that, there was little to chose between the first seven runners.  And so this intense competition continued for the remainder of the race with positions amongst these leading runners chopping and changing.  Tom was there right at the very end, but did not quite have enough left in the tank to beat Ben Johnson of Southport Waterloo who ran out the winner by six seconds.  However, he did have enough to hold off a strong challenge from Tim Raynes of Blackburn who was just behind Tom in third place.  It was a great race between these three athletes.

Mark Holgate had a good run to lead home our Vets.  Such a performance was needed as not having scored any points in the first two races of this season, our vets are in danger of losing their First Division status.  This will almost certainly go down to the last race of the season.

2 Tom Corrigan 34:27
10 Raymond Edgar 36:11
24 Mark Holgate 37:51
40 Andy Collins 39:52
