Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This is a picturesque marathon run through open country with Loch Ness to the side of you for most of the way.  You would think that running near the Loch, it would be reasonably flat, but in fact, it is an undulating course.
Robert Cranham made his way up to Scotland for this race.  When it started, it was raining (well it is Scotland), but he found it refreshing.  After twenty miles of steady up and down, you come to a big hill, at which point Robert, as a fell runner, came into his own and made up a lot of places on those who decided to walk the climb.  There were even a few shouts of "Barlick" from the crowd.
Robert finished two minutes outside of his PB for a marathon, but that one was very flat, so not really comparable.

It is Autumn again and it is off up the Lakes for this most challenging of relays.  This race does favour the Lakeland clubs as they can so easily reccie their legs, whilst for everyone else, it is a special trip out.  Not surprisingly therefore that five of the top ten cubs were based in or around the Lake District.  Great credit must go to the two Scottish Clubs that also made the top ten.

The Barlick open team finished 14th, a position which they had hovered round for most of the race.

The Barlick ladies finished in 63rd place, which was actually 7th ladies team.
