It was wild at wet at this race. It was reasonably dry for the first half, but went downhill from there. John Boothman continues to race without the corresponding training and the cracks are beginning to show. He enjoyed a good race for the first fifteen miles, but then his pace began to drop off and the last 2K were a disaster. In view of his lack of preparation and training John thought that finishing around the four hour mark would be a good result, so given the situation in which he found himself, he was happy with his time.
Further down the field Raymond Banks had a good run to finish 4th in his category

A very strong run by Lucy Brown saw her finish with a top twenty place and 3rd V40. In the ladies race, she was supported by Paula Cullen who ran her socks off and battled for places right up to the finish. However, their efforts were in vain as it was five to count for team places.
In the men's race, Gary Shaw stormed round the course, again to take a top twenty place and first V50 by a country mile. Because he is over 70, Raymond Banks could have run over the ladies course, but he missed that race and therefore chose to run in the senior race. It was lucky that he did, as he was our sixth counter, thus ensuring that we had a team place. It was a bit of a dad's army team, as it was comprised of all vet runners. As a result, we struggled in the overall positions, but did quite well in the vets race, finishing 3rd team.

We are not just a fell club, we also have some good runners on tarmac. Brilliant performances by our two girls in these races.

The Lancashireman is a 27 mile event covering the off-road moorland, tow paths, fields and hills along The Burnley Way. John Boothman's legs had not fully recovered from his 63 mile ultra race last week, but nevertheless he took on this challenge. The weather was perfect, but the going underfoot was boggy in places and the terrain was challenging.
Just put in a very good performance to finish 9th overall and first M60.

The main aims of the club are to increase the participation of running in Barnoldswick and to keep organised running as accessible as possible.
