Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. This has been one of the classic races in the fell running calendar and it is good  that some of our younger runners have been able to experience it before its demise.  This race was held each year to commemorate the wedding of Wynn and Steve Cliff at Newlands Valley church on Saturday 20th April 1996.  Sadly this year, Steve passed away passed away with motor neurone disease MND on 11th January.  As a result, this will be the last time that this race is ever held.  However, over the years, this race has been a great spectacle and has provided some great memories for both the participants and spectators alike.

Whilst all eyes were on London, much nearer home, another marathon was taking place.  Whilst the London runners were having to put up with the heat, on the two lap course at Blackpool, it was a case of fighting the head wind each time on the way out and putting up with very wet conditions for the first 9 miles.  Cloey Mason took part and was placed 8th out of 179 women and was 2nd V40.  It was her first sub 4 hour time.

167 Cloey Mason 3:53:19 (2nd V40).
