Membership fees

Despite the name, the club participates in all disciplines of running, fell, cross country and road and welcomes applications from runners of all abilities to join us. If you are not sure if the club is for you, why not come to one of our training sessions or one of our regular pub runs. You will be under no obligation to join, but you will get a feel for the club and a better idea if the club is for you. You can merely turn up to a training session unannounced, but it would be better if you contacted our club secretary first (details on the contacts page) and let him know that you will be coming and he will make sure that whoever is leading the group will look out for you. If you are an absolute beginner to running, you too are most welcome to join us in one of our sessions, but please contact our secretary first and he will make sure that you will have a programme with which you are comfortable. Races We Organise

This race was first run in 1981 and the course was designed by Peter Jebb, who together with his wife Anne, organised the Buckden Fell Race for 20 years. Peter was asked to organise a race by the Buckden Gala committee after winning the Fellsman Hike in 1981. In 1987, Peter altered the route to make the race more interesting and tougher. The course has remained the same ever since and this was the course on which the records were set.

Records: 1988 Colin Donnelly 30:51 / 1993 Carol Greenwood 36:32

This is a category A race and if warranted by the weather conditions, you will be required to carry full body cover. The decision will be made by the race organiser on the day and will be final. If you have no kit, you will not be allowed to race, so please come prepared.

Parking in Buckden is very restricted.  There will be a special car park for fell runners and their supporters, so please do not obstruct the lanes in and around the village, but use the specially designated car park, for which there will be a small charge.

The race starts at 2:30 pm
